Very Good Presets
I’ve worked closely with Dave Herring to bring Very Good Presets to the Capture One community. We’ve built these from the ground up to give people who are looking for the film photography look, without the cost of film. We shot loads of test images, including color checkers, on each film emulation and used the power of Capture One Pro color management tools to bring your digital images to life.
Monochrom L

CCD89
There was an iconic camera made in collaboration with Kodak in 2006. It was the first introduction of this brand to the digital camera market. Game changer. Then they did a new design a few years later, again in collaboration with Kodak. These CCD sensors create some of the most beautiful colors you will find straight off of a digital camera.
Of course, technology has made CCD sensors (and everything about those cameras) nearly obsolete. Things are better in many ways. That said, the days of collaboration between a camera brand and a filmmaker are long behind us.
Included Modifiers:
High Contrast: Punch the contrast, and maybe blow the highlights for fun!
ISO640, ISO1250, & ISO2500: Three levels of noise for your CCD inspired photos!
Pull: Lower exposure
Push: Raise exposure
Cool Tones
Warm Tones
Saturate: More color!
Eastman 100
Eastman Kodak made the film that made the movies we love. You can read all about it here.
The VGP Eastman 100 preset pack is modeled after two decades of film development - the 70’s & 80’s. In our opinion, this was the last season of imperfect film. By the 90’s and into the 2000’s, Kodak had perfected their motion picture film, eventually leading to Vision3 - another film stock we’ve created a preset for.
Eastman 100 captures the feeling of classic movies like Indiana Jones, The Goonies, Jaws, E.T., Karate Kid, The Godfather, and many others. Between the base preset and a large selection of modifiers, you’ll be able to dial in a look that is unique to you while still representing this classic era of film.
Included Modifiers:
Color Push: More saturation and luminance modifications
Flatten: Lowers contrast for a flatter image
HC: High contrast
Pull: Lowers exposure
Push: Raises exposure
Vintage Grain: A heavier and rougher film grain
Vintage Lens: An emulation of a soft and hazy lens
1974: Shift colors to a desaturated and brown warm tone
1983: Shifts colors to a more vibrant and faded tone
Remove Warming Filter: Use in tungsten lighting for true white balance
Portra 400
Very Good Presets is excited to introduce an emulation of Portra 400 that is true to film. Too many “Portra 400” presets out there misrepresent the characteristics of the film. We painstakingly dialed in colors, contrast, and grain to reproduce a familiar look when exposed correctly. Nothing can replace real film, but this is pretty damn close.
Included with this preset:
Portra 400 Neutral: The main preset.
Portra 400 Warm: A warmer version of the main preset.
Portra 400 Green: A more vintage/expired version of Portra 400
Modifiers Include:
Color Grading Variety
Film White Balance Variety
Film Grain Variety
Saturation Variety
A separate version for Fuji cameras.
Portra 800
Introducing Portra 800, an everyday film for everyday photography. This preset was developed over the course of many months and many rolls of films and camera systems, rigorously testing to ensure that the look was right with a single click. You won’t find yourself constantly reaching to make tweaks - just click and go. With a selection of modifiers, you’ll be able to dial in a unique look that represents this film stock and the many things you may do through chemical, scanning, and editing processes.
Included with this preset are:
Portra 800 Neutral: The main preset.
